The Story

To be honest, I have no idea what strange force compels me to do the type of work I do. Living in Seattle, you’re constantly bombarded with reminders of what a developer should be doing (working for Amazon), and how much a developer should be making (oceans of money). I have opted instead to spend my time working on several funded early stage startups. In the end it comes down to variety for me. My passion is in exploring the wide world of tech, and pursuing opportunities with young startups allows you to get an incredibly diverse sampling of experiences and ideas.

In the past three years I’ve had the opportunity to hang out at secret military exercises on the East Coast, which is not as cool as it sounds. I’ve spent some long hours two miles underground training Palladium miners on how to use the software I’ve written, which is more fun than it sounds, and had the privilege of working alongside some brilliant and insane people at the 9 Mile Labs startup accelerator. Those long nights  downtown, honing our investor pitches and ping pong skills are experiences I would not trade for the world.

The purpose of this blog then is to document and explore the ideas and technologies that I find myself working with on a day to day basis. Some of it will be reflective, but at times we’ll roll up the sleeves and really dig into some of the code and frameworks I am currently using in my day to day development.
